I've been having an increasing number of problems with my 1.4HDI Citroen C3 Exclusive and am seriously considering swapping it out for something more reliable. What I'm looking for is something with decent fuel economy, good build quality and more involved to drive than what I've got now. Don't get me wrong it's a great first car and everything but the steering and clutch are a bit light and there's far too much body roll on the suspension. I'd be looking at spending around 7k and I'm 28 with 2 years no claims so probably not ready for anything too powerful in terms of insurance.

Any advice would be appreciated

Your 28 with 2NCB and you don't think you're ready for paying for "performance", fair enough.

What kind of car are you looking for? Bigger than the C3? hatchback, saloon, coupe?

I'm after a hatchback or coupe, have tried an A3 1.9 TDI and thought that was an amazing difference to the C3 but not sure if there are any decent alternatives. :)

Well my first thought was the Leon 1.9 TDI. You'll get a 2003/53 plate for your money, and its the same car mechanically as the A3 (Same chassis, same engine), but its all down to if you like the looks or not.

Cool thanks, was hoping there would be a good alternative to the A3 and I definitely like the looks of the Leon. Will be hopefully going looking for test drives this weekend so will have a try. Thanks for the help :)
