Hi all,

Just after a bit of advice as looking at system specs my almost 6yr old i5 3750k 8gb ram setup is starting to get on a bit. I have added a gtx 1060 6gb a couple of yrs back which means I can play most stuff at a decent gfx rate but maybe it is time for a cpu upgrade.

I'm looking at the i7 8700k but unsure on whats best cooling wise, I have no plans to overclock it so nothing extreme required here.
Also case wise I have looked at the fractal r6 plus a 650w psu, is this going to be a good way to go?

Thanks guys.

Wait for the next gen 9th series before upgrading, should be out soon. If you haven't overclocked get that 3570k to 4.5ghz, for me upgrading to a 3770k was a big upgrade for gaming.

I have a 3570k and 8Gb ram and im going to wait for AMD Zen2 release, next year i think.

If you need an upgrade now then i would go with one of AMD's latest offerings.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,108.03 (includes shipping: £11.10)

I may just wait it out for the 9th gen intels seeing as it looks like they are due anytime now, I guess also with the release of the new chips there maybe a price drop of the existing chips (stock levels depending) which would make it a buyers market. I guess final thing would be is water cooled better than a standard fan?
