Upgrade from my SII

I went from an SIII to an LG G3. Very very happy with it.

I was also looking at:

HTC One M8
Samsung S5 (Ruled out very quickly though)
Sony Xperia Z2

When I changed and come over to andriod, I was looking into the htc m8 and lg g3... Love the htc, feels absolutly brilliant, but in the end I went for the lg.. One of the main deciding factors was that I could change the battery!
Before this I had an iphone 5 which would not hold charge more than 8 hours (even when Idled) and adding a battery pack was just added too much bulk in my eyes...
Sure the lg battery won't last as long as the htc, but that's a small price to pay (for me) when after a year and a bit the battery is on the ways out, I can just change it

The iPhone will have more of an allure to Android users I think because of the bigger screen and opened up OS. It may draw me back but at the moment I'm waiting for the Nexus 6. My G/F is due a new phone in October so I might get the iPhone anyway and palm it off to her if I don't like it.

OP - until you get a new phone, it might be worth reformatting the SII. Until recently, I was still using my SII as a spare (MP3 player), then Mum had it off me and she thinks it's great. For me, I went from an SII to an S4. (dunno why Samsung abandoned Roman numerals because we now have the 4S from Apple and S4 from Samsung).

I went from SII to Moto G then the Nexus 5.

Def recommend the N5 although even the G was better then the S2 in some respects.

Only thing I don't like on N5 is speaker placement. But not a deal breaker.

I would personally wait for the Moto X+1 or the Nexus 6, both look like there be awesome phones, run stock android (close enough in Moto x+1 case) so the software is overall a better experience.

Other interesting devices are the M8 but I feel it is just to tall and that front bezel would annoy me, Z2 is pretty solid but it does feel a little boxy, LG G3 although I feel they jumped the gun a bit by going 1440p which means the battery life isn't quiet as good as the G2.

The iPhone6 is also pretty interesting, it looks like its finally getting a decent sized display, iOS8 finally gives you simple things like proper sharing, apps being able to communicate with each other, 3rd party keyboards and generally apps to take over some stock things. Seems a lot more open, still has a way to go and I would still need to jailbreak it but its much better now.

Have you tried flashing Slimkat on the SII? I found it helped speed things up in a few areas compared to the stock software on my sister's SII.

As above, seeing it's only a couple of months for the X+1 and N6, I would wait for them.

Yeah mateys :) I flashed the S2 with Neat rom slim...Its still great but the battery ( My thrid) is going and I want a better camera and stuff...Plus i'm a bit bored with it...Had it yonks...

I have an ipad I like...It just works...but I have never had an iphone so it maybe something to consider...The S5 was a bit of a disappointment for me as I was going to get that when it first came out but couldn't justify the upgrade.

The Nexus 5 was a bit of a put off as the sound issue when recording video put me off. :(

I'm in the same situation, waiting to see what the new Nexus offers myself.
