I currently have a Q6600 with 4GB RAM and a Nvidia GTX8800. I'm assuming this will be a big upgrade. I've got an SSD and a 3TB HDD that I can use so that is why it's missing from the list.

I've put together the below spec, wondering what peoples thoughts are? It's around about my budget.

I want it to be SFF so I can put it under my TV in the cabinet.

Main uses are:

Emulation (ideally PS2 and GameCube)
Internet Browsing
Playback of 4k HDR content

Thanks for any pointers?

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £466.64 (includes shipping: £11.70)

Looks good technically, the case is an aesthetic thing, the 3300x is turning out to be a good gaming cpu. Are you likely to play anything other than emulation? If so, personally I'd try to get a slightly better graphics card.
That's just from my 'all gaming' perspective though...

3200g/3400g have integrated GPUs with comparable performance to the 1030 but the 3300x is stronger CPU wise so could be a better bet for emulation.

Spending £80 on a 1030 is pretty awful value for money imo, I'd try and find a used 1050ti/1650 instead

Not a massive fan of the case if I'm honest but OCUk don't seem to stock many HTPC budget cases.

Maybe will take a look at the 1050/1650 cards.

Do they support 4k HDR video?

Id recommend picking up a second hand RX570/580 4gig or 8. I got one off the market here for my second pc for £80 and I'm blown away by it. Sapphire Nitro+ RX570 8gig is what i would recommend.

Solid cards but may not be suited to a SFF build due to them being more power hungry and running hotter

Yeah I think the graphics card power consumption will be a limiting factor. Also will potentially need a low profile one?

I'd consider wait if I were you, the 4000 series APUs would be perfect for this system. £80 for that card makes me barf and even a 1050 or 1650 are bad value really.

Is that PSU compatible with the case?

Id be very careful, I very much doubt any B450 board you buy brand new is going to have 3300X or even 3100 CPU support, they are very new chips, it might be worth waiting for B550 which will be here in 2 weeks, if you do go B450, make sure you check out the CPU support list for that board before purchasing it.

Unless the board has some sort of bios flashback feature, you'll be left without a working system.

My assumption was that a dedicated graphics card would be better than using the onboard graphics of the Ryzen?

That I didn't think about, I'll ensure a board fully supports the chip! Thanks

good old q6600, you will be surprised how little power the new cpus use for better performance. Still have a few of these crunching numbers in the office. Any ryzen would be night and day difference and do what you need.
