Upgrade from the 4770k ?

you should get around £150-180 for CPU alone if not £200 then another £60-80 for the mobo. the ram should be close to £200 on MM.

although I don't think its a justifiable upgrade. probably go for a broadwell if you really want to upgrade.

I mainly polay deep simulation games (Planet Coaster, No Limits, RCT) and run at 4k

Thanks for all the help so far, Ive never done the whole SLI, was also under the impression that 2 cards didn't double performance tho, is that still true?

Also been advised that the memory I have by today standards is "Slow" is this true??

as this is one area I'm lacking

There are a few games that show nice minimum increases on the 6700k but even after the sale of your current hardware it's a £300 upgrade which is going to be very hard to notice.

Nop, only got a cheap £20 zalmann cooler so didnt think it was a good idea?

What sort of cooler would I be looking at and how far can I push the cpu? Im a novice to overclocking :(
 
Fair enough, I have the memory now clocked to 1866, What cooler at around £120 would offer the best performance please.
 
Just wanted to thank everyone, Ive O/c'ed to 4.2, my temps have dropped from 80 plus when gaming to a steady 50 under a full load (4k, max settings etc) and it does feel like theres been a nice little upgrade done, nice and quiet too.

Now....should I water cool the Strax 980 ti ? :)

Is it safe to use the utility that came with my MB to discover the best overclock
(its a gigabyte) or should it be done in bios?

Keeping in mind ive never done it before, but ive been building pc's for 20 plus years
 
Ok Thanks Buddy im upto 4.3ghz and according to "Core Temp" im at 1.30v, temps under a full load no more than 55, around 30-35 idle

Does voltage change under load?

Whacked it upto 4.4

While on a game that mazes the cpu and gpu im getting

50-60 degrees on the cpu

and 1.39v max, it does drop to 1.30v quite often,

How am I looking?
