Well i decided to buy an x1900xt ready for when i get my 24" Dell. I had an x1800xt but wasnt sure if it would be able to handle BF2 with all the settings maxed out.

So i took the plunge and it arrived this morning. I thought id take some comparing screenshots to show the difference between the two cards.

Bare in mind that this is at 1280x1024 becuase i havent bought my dell yet

(thought id throw this one in there)

There you go! Even at 1280x1024 there a NOTICABLE difference. If your thinking about it, i say do it!

Shame some one cant do this with the X1900 XtX and a 7900 GTX

i know true, but a few reviewd say the Nvidia IQ is slightly worse so for £290 delivered i feel ive got mysef a bargain here :D:D well chuffed

Interesting, I've had both cards btw, but why would there be an IQ difference with the exact same settings other than framerates? I though they had near enough the same architecture, no?

Uh yea, it seems that all you've done is enabled Adaptive AA on the X1900 and you didn't with the X1800.

k?
That's what I thought too. It's just adaptive AA.

I can't see how myself, but people say the quality of the BF2 shadows is also AA-dependant. It'd explain it.

Yeah IQ would be the same, thats obviously not the same settings.

You can tell in the HL2 shot, x1900 has adaptive AA on, x1800 aint, as adaptive AA does that to the fences i think, or its another setting im thinking off which does that which is turned on on the x1900, and not turned on on the x1800 because there was all that hoo har when the 7800's came out being able to do that to fences and stuff, whatever the setting if you turn it on on the x1800 to then the x1800 shot will be identical to the x1900 one.

EDIT: Just seen A random name's post, must be the adaptive AA setting then.

It does as when the 7800's came out being able to do that to fences and stuff, they were throwing shots all over the place showing the diff.

EDIT: Bah beaten above. :(
