Currently using Gigabyte gtx 460, was not sure if it was worth getting a second, or a completely new GPU. What has more benefit? Spending roughly 150£.

i5
corsair cx600
gigabyte ga-p55 motherboard
8gb ram

£150 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-326-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1982
£156 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-226-MS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1982

you cant sli 1Go of ram at 2014, idealy would be to get R9 280 3Go instead of 270X, if you can manage to sell your card for £40 or so then add the money and get one of these :
for £190 not fan of VTX3D, but http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-019-VX&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1842
or £200 MSI worth the extra £10 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-251-MS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1842
