Upgrade GPU time

i am looking at upgrading my GPU from AMD 7000 series and looking for something that will play games on 2 screens on full graphics and looking at spending between £350 - £450 mark ($550 - $700)

was looking at Nivida EVGA 680 (prob signature+) or SLI on 2 GTX660's (which is about same price give or take a little) or do you guys have better Idea as also thought on the AMD but heard that Nivida have that little better when talking the high end GPU models

What AMD 7000 series card do you have? Also, what cpu?

If you're mobo supports crossfire, you could pair up two 7950's - though that would be slightly over budget.

7700, i think it was, yeah a old thing thats melting but waiting for the New intel CPU on which will be getting New MoBo so will be SLI/crossfire

I haven't heard that before. Without knowing the specifics, it seems like a too general a comment, and therefore I don't think I would give that any credit by paying attention to it.

Games will run well on either high end graphics card, be it AMD or Nvidia, but some will work better from one vendor over another. Sometimes, as new drivers come along, performance can change by favouring the other brand.

Yeah the 7950 prob stretch budget bit high.. would 2 7870's pull better results the a single GTX680 or 7970 ?

prob silly question but don't intend to upgrade again for few more years so looking for something that can take the strain of the next generations of games without having to put on minimal settings

Two of these would give the most performance for the cash, and would still leave you within budget :

Alternatively, if when you come to purchase there is a good deal on a 7970 / 670 / 680, you could buy one for time being and add another further down the line - must remember that option myself.

Just for the record, the 7970GE and 680 are closely matched at 1080p but as the resolutions and anti-aliasing increases, the 7970GE actually pulls away from the nVidia card.

This website aggregates all the results from the top graphics card at a range of resulotions and shows that the 7970GE has the advantage. Keep it mind this is before the Never Settle drivers which have pushed the 7970 performance even higher.
