Hi all,

I'm building a new system. I'm changing from AMD Tri Core to the newly released intel i7 950. But i'm stumped with what to choose in terms of graphics cards. At present I have crossfired 5770's OC'd to 900Mhz core and 1300 memory and 3GB DDR3 1333Mhz. I've had numerous screen tearing issues, drivers haven't helped. Windowed mode in games has solved most issues but canes the framerate. I've experienced micro-stuttering in numerous games...at least I think thats the term, just moving in games, say you look at the floor, or oncoming scenery and every few seconds it'll judder no matter what settings I change. I honestly expected more performance.

So it begs the question. What to upgrade to go along with my i7, 2000 Mhz DDR3? Money is not an issue for the card...yes I've even considered the overkill of the 4GB 5970, but it's not justifiable. ATI, if that were the choice i'd want one ATI card and an Nvidia to run dedicated physx.

For Nvidia, well I like the 480's except for heat issues. This has bugged me for ages, that along with what sort of case could help keep those temperatures down. People recommend watercooling it if SLI'ing. The watercooling results are impressive for temp drops and overclocking but i've never ventured into watercooling, read into it a lot but just don't know if I should make that step.

So could you guys perhaps recommend a gfx card setup? I'm open to either company just previous ATI issues on my current rig have me doubtful..

Oh and a case recommendation (again price not so much of a concern) just cooling and space for the longer cards. I like the new corsair's but am uneasy for it to rely on drawing air in from the bottom.

I'd grab a 480 if you have the cash, otherwise you can't go wrong with a 470 @ 800 core, clock for clock you're looking at a 15% gap between the two. Don't worry about the heat, nothing a custom fan profile cant handle.
