Hi All its that time again.

I was wondering if anyone could comment on this?

What would get better results, two Radeon 7770's or one 7870? Also, as I have never "crossfired" anything before, does it require any other hardware or is it all built in to the mobo?

Thanks

SF.

The 7770 is not a good card, in that go for the 7870, xFire is a gamble, some times you get + 80% the performance of just one card and most of the time it's more like +60% and sometimes +20% if anything.

The best thing to do is go for a single 7950 for a similar cost as 2x 7770.

7850 is a great card with a good amount of overclocking potential. If you are looking at the 7870 as an upgrade, maybe look a little further to the 7950?

Crossfire/SLI are easy to setup but this does not stop the extra noise and heat and power draw.

Two 7770s is higher performance, but you open yourself up to all the normal dual card issues. Microstutter, poor performance in certain games etc

Sadly I can't push the budget out that much...the 7870 was pushing the budget as it is, so what would you say was better, the 7850 or 7870? I take it they both beat the 7770 then?

If your overclocking go for the 7850, it will get to within 10% of the 7870 clock for clock.

7770 = junk. sorry! i just think it is...

Sorry one more... can someone recommend a PSU for a 7850 / 7870 sized card?

Currently have i5, 8Gig ram, Asus P8Z77-V LX, 500GB WD Black and DVD drive if that helps? Plus planning on getting a couple of case fans.

What is your budget?

550 Watt will do, but don't go for the cheapo ones, seriously. Just don't :)

Ha don't worry I have had the green smoke (well more a blackish grey ;) ) before.

Budget (I hate having a budget) but probably max of about £50

Cheers.

Yeah I think I could make £57, which would you say was best in that range?

Sorry for all the questions PSUs aren't something I usually worry about but as I am putting some attention to this build I want to get it right.

There all pretty good, but if it was me i would go for the Corsair on account of 600w vs 550w, gives you a bit more room to play with for any future upgrades, a good PSU like that can last for 5 years if you look after it.
