Hi so I was asking the other day about monitors, which stulid very kindly helped me with but I recently got offered the Asus MG279Q dominator for a really cheap price so I took it :D (hope that was a good move) anyway stulid also recommended the Powercolor Radeon R9 390 as an upgrade from VTX3D HD 7870 black boost edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-express graphics card currently been used I was wondering if there was any difference between the Powercolor and the MSI Radeon R9 390 that's on offer this week? I'm guessing that it will work with freesync?
Thanks :)

The differences are fairly minimal.

Mostly there will be a small difference in clock speeds and temperatures, and some might say the MSI quality is higher. Otherwise theres little difference, its still a 390 and will perform like a 390 with the features of a 390.

That said, I'd go for the MSI unless the powercolour was a worthwhile amount cheaper. And I did, it arrived on Tuesday - also an upgrade from a 7870.

Thank you for your reply,
I think the price difference at the mo is £20 as both are on offer, so maybe the MSI is the way to go for my son also :D may seem a silly question but is it freesync enabled?

Yes, as far as I know all recent AMD cards do (even back to the 7000 series, I think).

All 300 series cards are gaming free-sync ready (I think, I remember reading something about a 300 series card that was not in the first day release not running it). The only 200 series cards that will run gaming free-sync are the 290 and 260 models everything else plus the older ranges do not run gaming freesync.

Go with MSI bud. If you have any prob;lems, their RMA's are nice and quick and they are decent cooled cards which are nice and quiet.

I'd stick with the MSI as other people have said. The Twin Frozr cooler is well respected for both being efficient and quiet.

MSI it is :D

Looks like I need a better PSU as currently I've only got a 550w, any recommendations as it stands budget is going to be around the £70 mark?

Thank you everyone for your help :)
