Hi all,

First post, so...here goes.

I built my first PC a long time ago now, and after sitting on the console for a while, i've decided to revert to my old ways, PC.
I've never had much of a technical background, SO DUMB EVERYTHING DOWN;).

Current specs are as follows (don't judge)

1GB XFX Radeon HD 7770
Intel Pentium G860, Socket 1155, Dual Core, 3.00GHz
LiteOn IHAS124-04 24x DVD±R
Fractal Design Core 1000
CORSAIR CX500
MSI H61M-P31 (G3) Motherboard
HyperX Fury Black Series 4GB 1600MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM Desktop Memory
500GB Seagate ST500DM002 Barracuda SATA 6Gb/s, 7200rpm
Windows 10 64-bit

Now, I know what you're all thinking as, well... I can barely run Minecraft anymore for my Nephews:eek:.

I'm looking to play some games out there like Arma 3 and DayZ, but i do like to mix it up and try various games.

I don't necessarily have a budget as such. The build i currently have was working at around £300, but that was back in a time when I wasn't working.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as i just want to get gaming again!!!!:D

You could go for a second hand I-5 such as a 3570 and adding more ram will certainley help, but you may have to update the bios on the motherboard to accept a new cpu.

The 7770 is an ok gpu but if you gonaa game at 1080p then a new gpu would be a good choice.

Otherwise a new build mite be the way to go if funds allow.

Hi Micky,

When you say update the bios, does that mean upgrading my Mobo? Excuse my lack of knowledge! What's a good GPU to get and what would I need to upgrade to intergrate it? I'd say budget for a GPU would be roughly £150-200.

Updating the bios is like ading software to the motheboard so it can accept a newer cpu but you may not need to do so. If you get a new cpu and it doesnt work then then you probably will need too.

There are many tutorials on how to do so but you could do this in windows but its not reccomened unless uou cant really figure things out.

Download the manual for your motherboard and software needed there are many tutorials just serach. I believe msi does live update look at the utilities.

Also look at videos on youtube for changing parts or building computers.

For a new gpu i would go for a gtx 960 if budget allows and an SSD, boot up times and loading times will be so much faster.

Adding another 4gb of ram would be wise , is your ram a single stick or 2 ?

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £243.47
(includes shipping: £10.50)

Hopefully you know someone who could help you with your upgrades if you strugle but there are many good people on the forum that mite help.
