Hi all, looking to upgrade my pc to coincide with the release of Win 7.

Currently i have this running Windows 7 RC...

Antec 900
Asus P5B-Deluxe
Intel E6600
4GB Geil ULL
Asus GTX 285
Creative X-FI Xtreme Music
Corsair HX 620w PSU
Asus DVD-RW Drive
1TB HDD's (3 drives)
AE Ageo M speakers
Samsung SM2443BW 24" monitor
Logitech G15, G5 & G25

Am looking at getting the following...

*OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz @ 4.00GHz Max / Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Intel X58 Motherboard / Patriot Viper 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz DDR3 Bundle

I'm wondering about upgrading the PSU while i'm at it to the Corsair HX850w as i'm wondering if the 620 will be enough? Also thinking i may as well do it all while i'm at it.

Also thinking about the case, Toying with the idea of the Lian-Li PC-7F

Help me choose! :)

Thanks

your psu should be fine ,but if youve got the upgrade bug go for it:D
and lian li cases are great

What will temps be like in the 900 compared to the Lian-Li? Especially gaming at 4ghz?

I'm assuming the 900 will be better/cooler?

i dont know but lian li cases are well designed(including airflow) so it wouldn't surprise me if it was the other way round

Fair enough,

So the i7 is worth it from the 3.8 to 4ghz for £15?

What sort of temps do you think i can expect from the i7 at 3.8 and 4ghz?

The airflow in the 900 will be better, but it will also look horrendously cheap compared to the Lian Li (one of which is sitting next to me here and is a lovely case).

If I were you I'd save your money, and overclock the 920 yourself. They're supposed to be easily overclockable chips, and it's fun getting that meagre sense of achievement!

Ye i know what you mean, this 900 is starting to look old if you know what i mean. :(

I would, but to be honest i just dont have the time or patience to do it, that is why I'm happy to pay someone else to do it. :)
