Any help on this issue would be great thank you.

Have you update the BIOS for your motherboard?

What are your CPU temps under full load (use Prime-95 or something to check and CoreTemp)?

What are your GPU Temps under full load? (Furmark or similar)?

I would agree on the temps for the 8350 there would be no way you should be seeing temps that low.

out of interest. what cooler are you using? did you update the bios after you installed the FX8350? can you run cpuz and see what your cpu is running at when running prime95.

what games are you playing? and at what settings?

- CPU isn't under full load. You need to run the CPU at full load for 10 mins to get temps. It's bizarre that it is not picking up your temps accurately though as there's no way it's 12*C. As for slowdown, one possible explanation is the core multiplier is locked at 7 in the BIOS, unlikely as I think that's the Cool N Quiet stepping but worth checking - you should see it change when you run Prime95's torture test

For Furmark, you need to run the burn-in test and take temps after about 10 mins and that will give you max temp.

These are the results after a 15 min test

Sorry for late reply, I'm on nightshift..

Furmark shows very acceptable temps, and also gives a reasonable CPU temp, along with expected speed (4.2Ghz) which shows your board is not locking a 7x multi

Most likely thing I can think of is a driver conflict.

Here's your downloads for your board:

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/970-GAMING.html#down-driver&Win7 64

Install those, then use the Display Driver uninstaller in safe mode:

Follow instructions, and after that install your latest graphics drivers:
