Upgrade itch !

Currently have £300+ burning a hole in my pocket, was looking at the 7970 vtx twin fan card when on offer and the kfa2 670 oc. Or should i carry on saving and wait for the new consoles to arrive and see what both sides have to offer then ? 5870 is still holding out ok at my res and the games i am currently playing. Just like new shinny stuff every now and then, hard to resist.

If the card is holding out, save your money, something better will turn out sooner than later.

I would upgrade, either cheapest 670 or a cheap non ref cooled 7970 will be a great upgrade

Hold off unless you really do have a lot of surplus cash to spend!

Won't be long till the rehash of the 600 series come out.. the 700 series...

Don't have bucket loads of cash. So will keep adding to it if newer tech is coming soon. When is 680 big brother due? And will there be cut down versions to ?

So your willing to wait until 2014 when the new consoles come out?

If there is nothing more taxing than BF3 then yes. keep saving and do a full system upgrade. Unless gpu dies.BF3 plays fine on high at my res.Thought next gen consoles would be out by 2013 at least, or are the big two going to let the wii u have a full yrs lead ?

The wiiu is only 20% more powerful than the ps3 and 360 so IMO its not a threat to the other consoles. Micheal pa her predicted a 2014 release.

With that PSU behind you I would get another 5870 and go xfire.

Had thought of that xfire 5870 but wont the 1 gig of vram be a problem ? Also xfire 5870 is only equal to a 670gtx isn't it?
Also don't have access to members market.

I suffer from upgrade-itis as well and just recently bought a 670 windforce. I had 460 SLi and I'm happy with the upgrade. Everything is smooth as a baby's bum!

You can always wait for the next generation GPUs, but after they come out, you might as well wait for the next generation after that as they will surely be better.

My suggestion is, if you have the dosh and want to upgrade, just upgrade and be happy.

If your not vram limited wih one card your not going to be limited with two.

this, the only time that would be a bad time to uprade is like a week before new cards are expected.

How do i know when i'm vram limited if that's not being stupid ?
New major card release is what September, october ?

As you said everything is ok with the 5870, why change, just keep it and save up for the next big bad boy!

wait till october only game that might be a bit more harder to run will be moh warfighter and that is using bf3 engine.

other than that theres nothing other than bf3 that really pushes mid to high range cards

Upgrade itch not going away, i wonder if i have a big enough tube of thermal paste to rub on it until October otherwise i might just have to scratch it with a nice new 670gtx. OCUK sell too many things for my affliction and all cost lots of money.

Go with the 670 or the 7970. I understand your itch and have to agree with waiting is a no no....
