3200 B-die and should be killer. only problem is , sync benchmark doesn't match up to gaming performance .
I've always just written off 1440p, because I don't think I could go back from 144hz when I mostly play competitive FPS.
It's a 155Hz monitor. But I understand if you're an fps monster and easier to get more at lower resolution.![]()
Ah, missed that entirely!
I'm at a loss here, I'm not really someone that obsseses over FPS numbers, just after smooth and enjoyable gaming for the next few years!
Sorry.![]()
Hah, don't be! Appreciate all the input. I'm just so out of the loop with everything.
My monitor is neither free synch or g synch, it's "LG 24GM77 24" TRUE 144Hz Widescreen LED Monitor". It will be what I replace after building the new PC.
After revisiting the drawing board, and having to be more realistic about budget (nearer £800), come up with the below:
CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600X 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor
Motherboard: MSI - B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC ATX AM4 Motherboard
Memory: Kingston - Predator 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory
Video Card: Sapphire - Radeon RX VEGA 56 8 GB PULSE Video Card
Power Supply: BitFenix - Formula Gold 650 W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply
Coming in around £750. Questions I have are, as a 1080p gamer would intel be better? Would AMD be more future proof if I did decide to pursue 1400p?
Also, is the pro carbon mobo worth the extra over the tomahawk?
EDIT: the more I read the more it seems intel is better for gaming
Thanks for that! Question though, if i don't intend on upgrading my CPU for a long time, years in fact, why push for the more expensive mobo?
Zotac GTX 1070 - £250 (or Vega 56 or GTX 1660Ti)
Kingston Predator 16GB 3200 - £103
Intel i5-8600K - £224
Gigabyte Z390 Gaming X - £129
550W Gold PSU - £67
Total £773.00
And add a cooler.
I see, makes sense! If I am 100% ordering in the next week or so
Tempting to just do this yea, as I really don't want to wait until July. As long as I can give it a little upgrade or so over the years then I'm fine with that. Current build is from 2013 and has served me well..
Am I right in thinking that the vega 56 requires a beefier PSU? 650?
