Upgrade - Old graphics card

I currently have a fairly old PC, but it doesn't get used for too much in the way of gaming so I have never been too bothered about upgrading in the past

Recently I started playing a couple of newer games where the minimum/recommended specs are above what my graphics card currently is - they play okay, but it would be nice to up the settings

PC

Asus Z97 Pro Gamer
Intel i5 4690k
2x4Gb DDR3
GTX560ti

Resolution - 2560x1440

So my question is whether it is worthwhile upgrading graphics to something like the RTX2060/2070, or to upgrade the entire machine

I don't have a budget for either, but I am not going to drop a 2080 in the machine just for the sake of it, if a 2060/2070 will be a reasonable upgrade that will last for quite a while with the rest of the machine

I was looking at the RTX2060 at just over £300, or is it worth paying another £100 for the RTX2070

If it helps, I'm running an i7-2600k which is an older Sandybridge CPU, although clocked at 4.2GHz and I put in a EVGA 1070 and it was definitely worth it. I also game at 1440p, a 2070/2060 will be a very decent upgrade.

Yes your CPU will bottleneck it a bit, some games more than others.

You could always do that, see how you get on and then upgrade the rest later.

EDIT: just remembered, double check compatibility with any potential new GPU against your motherboard.

Any of the ones you list will give you a huge boost.
And the benefit is it can be carried over into your next upgrade. That’s what I usually do, a bit like ‘tick/tock’. Motherboard/CPU/RAM and carry over graphics card, upgrade graphics card later to give a boost then carry the card over into my next machine again.

I upgraded my old Intel I5 4670 to a used Radeon RX570 8gig and I can tell you it flys in 1080p and 1440p. I did upgrade the ram to 16gig and I've a decent 620 watt enermax liberty psu in tbere. But card only cost me £80 off the market here so keep eye out for cheap RX570/580 Radeons.

Thanks all for the advice

The motherboard has PCIe v3.0 (x16) so should be fine with the latest cards from what I can tell
