My current system:

An8 Motherboard (NF-CK804)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
4Gb DDR Ram
Ati Radeon HD 3850 (PCI -Express)

I'm perfectly happy with the speed of the system, use it for work and the odd casual game - mainly older games so all that runs fine. The problem I have is with the USB ports. The front ones don'w work and that's just a right pain. Am guessing the motherboard is at fault, so what I want to know is.... whats my best upgrade option.

Want to keep the cost down, probably looking at about £200 max and will want to include a new PSU in that.

Any suggestions? Had a little look on the MM for old 939 boards, tempted by this.

Thanks

It might just be the case usb plug
But if you upgrade regardless
You will need a bigger budget for an entire system
CPU MB and ram will get you an AMD FM2 a10 5800k system at around 200pounds
Not enough budget for a PSU

Are the front USB ports plugged into the motherboard?

You could just buy a USB hub if you need more easily accessible ports should these 'front' ports fail to work.

Hmm... considering the options.

USB's are plugged in ;)

Liking the sound of those trinity cpus. With the options above, is it worth keeping the 3850 gfx card or the cpu/onboard option better?

Years old the card so guessing it will be better off retiring it!
