recently bought a new 1440p monitor and looking to start streaming and my PC seems to be struggling slightly.

PC spec is:
Gigabyte Z97X-SLI - Devils Canyon Core i5 4690K Bundle **£14 Saving**
EVGA SuperNova G2 750W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply
SK Hynix 256GB SSD SH910A SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive (HFS256G32MNB-2201A)
2 x Kingston HyperX Savage Red 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (HX324C11SRK2/8)
EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (04G-P4-2974-KR)

I dont have a budget in my head just yet I was more curious as to what I would need to spend to get a decent performance upgrade.

what would you guys recommend?

price upto 700ish to upgrade?

Tough one - I would suggest you need to upgrade the core of your system first rather than the graphics card.

So maybe Ryzen 3rd gen with 6 to 8 cores, with 16GB of fast DDR4 and a B450 MoBo

However this won't leave enough for a decent GFX card! I would think you want an AMD 5700XT as a minimum for 1440p.

What model of monitor is it?

Might be worth dropping an i7 into your current board and then buying an Nvidia 2070S or 2080?

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £722.96 (includes shipping: £0.00)

You should be able to find the 3600 elsewhere for a bit less.

Sell your current CPU/MOBO/RAM/GPU, I imagine you'll get a decent amount for them tbh.

Reuse the rest of your hardware.

Should be fine, still a very good PSU and I imagine still under warranty as mentioned by @CuriousTomCat.

awesome, Might purchase that bundle then :)

Yes, the PSU came with a 10 year warranty so it obviously has top quality components. I'd probably replace it on or near the 10th year though to be safe. It's probably about 6 yerars old now?

november 2014 I bought it so good guess!

Absolutely.

I'd have specified the 3700X originally if your budget was a bit larger when you posted.

The Powercolor Dual Fan is on sale for £330 right now too, so you timed that well. lol

right sorry to bother you again, upping the budget to £1000 for upgrades to make sure im comfortable for a good 6 odd years again.

what would you go for?

You're starting to hit diminishing returns from what you're looking at.

Maybe push to 32GB of RAM? Prices were on the rise for it before Corona so it could be a good time to do so. You'll get some detractors for the move, but we're already close to using 16GB + in games, for example The Division 2 uses around 12-13GB for me and I don't expect to see the trend go into reverse.

You could also consider getting a larger SSD to replace your old 256GB.

thought as much.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £894.06 (includes shipping: £11.10)

Micron E-Die RAM, so it should hit 3600 + with good timings.

I'd recommend looking up "Sabrent Rocket NvME" as you'll be able to get a 1TB drive for £129.99 -- make sure it isn't the Q version as it uses inferior QLC flash.

sorry ive editted it now I meant to say MOBO not RAM, appreciate your help

I'm not sure I would go with that bundle personally.

The 3900X is a great chip but we really don't need more than an octa-core right now, by the time we might you'll be able to get a 12 core Ryzen 4000 for dirt cheap.
