I haven't used the camera that much, but i've heard great things about the tamron 17-50, and the sharpness and 2.8 aperture is tempting me to buy it. I'm off for a nice 2 month holiday this summer, and i was wondering whether i upgrade to the tamron or save my money and not bother?

I haven't been out much with the camera due to partly being lazy, but also weathers not been great and i can't get around much, and having exams. But i hope to go out loads this holiday and learn quite a fair bit.

I already have the 18-55mm IS, 50mm 1.8 and 55-250mm.

I upgraded the kit 18-55 IS to the Tamron and loved it. I didn't miss the IS at all and found the Tamron to have better IQ and more versatile with the constant f2.8. Having said that the kit lens isn't bad, what else would you think of putting the money away for?

Well, i'm guessing i'll be spending a bit on this holiday with shopping and all that, and i'll be starting uni this year so i guess money for nights out and the usual student stuff.
I'm not too worried about whether the difference of moving up from the kit lens to the tamron is worth that value of money, but more about whether i'll use it enough in the future to justify getting it for £200 extra (after selling the kit lens) (if that makes any sense at all )

Or keep with the kit lens for now, have a good play with it and get more experienced, and then in the future, get the tamron, or if i'm really into it, something more expensive.

Sounds to me like it would be more prudent to stick with what you have at the moment. If/once you get into it more you can upgrade then.
