Upgrade or replace damaged fx build

Hello everyone at the overclocker forums.
I have a predicament and I'd like to expert advice about what to do. I damaged my mobo doing a clean & rebuild, managed to snap a small module and the mobo is toast. Every other component survived and functions normally, the psu still outputs the correct voltages for each rail etc. So lucky me it was just my mobo. I have tweaked and overclocked this build to the max and had very happy results compared to what I've read about other people OCing with simular builds. The overclock was done in the FSB around 240 mark, with only a few ticks on the CPU multi ratio.
I'll list the main components and their respective OCs.

PSU: XFX 750w bronze semi modular
Mobo: Asus sabertooth 990fx r2.0
Cpu: AMD fx8350 [email protected] 1.48v
Cooler: Corsair H115i AIO
Ram: Corsair vengeance 1600 (9-9-9-24) 4x4gb OC@1886mhz (10-11-10-24)
Gpu: Msi Armor 1080 ti
Storage: Samsung 850 evo 500gb, seagate barracuda 1tb 7200rpm
Case: Aerocool DS200
Monitor: AOC QHD @75hz

I believe for an amd fx build, this is about the max I'm gonna get without going to the extremes for a few extra fps. On a lot games I can achieve a stable 75fps with 2k-4k high settings. On some games like battlefield 1, GTA V mass effect andromeda etc I can put everything in ultra and get stable 75fps. On some Cpu intensive games (such as ffxv, skyrim mods, just cause 3 and 4 etc) I have to tweak between medium, high and some ultra settings in order to stabilise the fps around 60 and some still remain unplayable (eg assassins creed origins dips to below 40fps and is unstable as heck). Overall I've been happy with this build because I am not rich and I can really enjoy some of my favourite games at the maximum available settings.

Now my mobo is dead, I am faced with a choice: replace the mobo for around £50-£100 and finish what I started, OR, buy a ryzen or Intel Mobo+Cpu bundle. My budget isn't great, I'm willing to spend up to around £250 for parts. My budget will improve in a few months, it's just this time of year things are pretty tight and I need my pc back. I noticed some good deals while searching briefly but my knowledge of Intel chips isn't the best. There's an i5 7400k bundle for £260.
What are your opinions? Should I just replace the part or upgrade? Is my budget viable and will I be able to get a decent performance boost? Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas!!

Hi,

You can fit in the budget but DDR4 will also go with the new CPU+mobo:

My basket at overclockers uk:
Total: £274.47 (includes shipping: £10.50)

Merry Christmas!

Need a cooler

If you can grab an i5 + 16GB bundle then great. Any intel 4 core or Ryzen build will be better then FX chip , specially gaming at lower Res as that 1080 Ti is a massive power house compared to the FX chips .

Though most that have. 1080ti are rocking i7 K chips...

Hey, will the corsair H115i AIO not suffice? Why?
Anyway, I did research on those ryzen 5 parts listed and I couldn't find anything of better value for my needs, so thanks a lot for pointing me the right direction. Hopefully delivered by tomorrow and I can enjoy something fresh for Xmas :D

Yes the H115i will be fine. You might need to request an AM4 bracket from Corsair though.

I would spend an extra £10 and go with the R5 2600 as that comes with a stock cooler that you can use in the mean time if need be.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £158.69 (includes shipping: £8.70)

Thanks. After looking into some obscure information about whether or not the bracket is needed, I've bought one anyway. Unfortunately it looks like corsair aren't reliable for individual deliveries, so I've ordered from a retailer in France and may need to wait until next week for delivery. I may just butcher my current bracket to fit if it looks easy enough, the holes are only a few mm offset. Too late to order the 2600 with stock cooler but it's not that big a deal, if modifying the current bracket doesn't work I'll just wait.
Thanks again and happy new year!

Hi everyone I'm back with some good news. The secondary hole placements in the am3+ bracket included with my H115i fit perfectly on the am4 board. The tricky part was the screws were a bit long and when tightening the pump there was too much movement in the backplate and I feared the heat sink wouldn't make good enough contact. So I placed rubber o-rings (obtained from another computer) over the screw holes between the backplate and the board to reduce the length and voila! The pump now tightens fully and makes perfect contact. I've plugged in everything just for a boot and heat test, opened the corsair app and the CPU is idling under 30c. Now all I need to do is secure all the cables and put it back together.
Thanks for the advice, I will post some test results once everything is tidied up and running under normal conditions.
