upgrade or start again?

Agree with Wildman. A friend of mine just added a 7970 to his i5 750 and it made a huge difference. Whichever way you look at it, you will need a new card, so why not buy it and see how much of a difference it makes? You could pick up a new GPU, RAM & AIO CPU Cooler now, then update the rest later if you feel you need it.

And unless you REALLY love to clock the pants off your CPU, any RAM faster than 1866Mhz really is overkill/willy waving.

OK 280X it is!

Which one to go for is the question now.

VTX3D one is cheap, but not overclocked at all and I'm guessing with that cooler no chance to either.

All the others are more expensive and overclocked... but will I see a real life difference for the extra money?

Also, ram wise should I just buy another 4gig set to go with mine or buy new?

There were some crazy good deals on 7970's when the 280X came out, which was why my mate went for it.

I also read that the BIOS could be flashed on some 7970's to turn them into the 280X equivalent (but I never looked into it to confirm)
