upgrade or volt mod???

hey guys.

my current specs are

opteron 165 @ 2.6
1gb ddr400 (soon to be 2gb)
BFG 7900gt @ 560/1460 (stock volts)
gigabute k8n sli motherboard

running on vista ultimate

just want your advice on weither or not i should updrade to the new 8800gt now or volt mod my 7900gt for a little extra power and wait till next year for a new graphics card. At the minute im playing bioshock and the frames are pretty high but i think i have a problem with my memory playing this game but have orderd a new 1gb stick and should be here on monday.


i have a conductive pen ready for the volt mod so if anyone sugests the mod then could they please give a link to the best site that shows the mod.

The fact that you are running vista with 1 GB of ram is not helping.

As for the 8800 GT it will be staggering the performance increse you will see.

i knew that 1gb with vista was a problem a while ago and have had problems with getting new memory that works but hopefully this new stick im getting on monday will work well. i was hopeing to get more info on the volt mod cuz i cant afford to upgrade just yet but was thinking that the volt mod would tied me over for a few months untill i could get the money sorted.

7900GT doesn't tend to like voltmods too long - increases the chances of it dying quite a lot... also the performance gain isn't that significant.
