My current system is as following:

AMD 6000+ x2
Abit fatal1ty AN9
2GB corsair ram
ati 4850

I've tried to play some battlefield 3 and obviously its laggy as hell. I have £150 maybe £200 to spare and figured that it is most likely time for an upgrade but with having spec's which are probably a few generations old would I need a complete overhaul of my PC or is there hope on a cheap CPU/gfx/memory upgrade?

Also, my old PSU blew and its currently running on a 450w antec psu and imagine it will not be able to power a more meaty GPU/CPU?

Any info/ insight/ ideas would be extremely appreciated, thanks for your time :)

Unfortunately, looking at this there isn't much further you can go with your existing board.

As for a cheap overhall, even just going to a i3 2100 CPU, 4GB DDR3 RAM and a H61 board will cost over £160 - leaving little money for a decent graphics card.

That said, you may want to consider the second hand market for a new board and CPU. Second hand prices for i5 700 series and i7 900 series CPUs and P55 and X58 motherboards have been dropping a lot recently - so you could pick yourself up a bargain. As for the RAM, best to buy your DDR3 from a shop (like OCUK) as the prices are really good now and you get lifetime warranty.

As for a GPU, you could hunt around for a good deal on a 2nd hand graphics card. Alternatively, this and this offer good value for money.

cmndr_andi is spot on - with a budget such as yours a second ahand p55 coupled with a i5 760 would be a great bang for buck. It's still a very capable chip and fitted with a 460 would munch its way through most games and apps.
