Not sure what forum this sits in best so mods please feel free to move.

My current setup is used almost exclusively for playing World of Warcraft so doesnt really need to be amazingly turbo specced. I have a separate HTPC. Recently I have noticed that in certain 25 man raid situations my framerate is dropping to unplayable levels and would like to rectify this.

Current set up

Windows Vista 32
Asus P5B
Intel 4300 @2.7ghz
4gb DDR2 PC5300
Nvidia 8800GT 256MB
ColoursIT PSU
Samsung Spinpoint 7200rpm disk

I am replacing the PSU and case with an OCZ 500W and Coolermaster Storm Scout and was going to install Windows 7 64 bit.

Question: Should I drop a new CPU in say Intel e8400 or upgrade the GPU to something better instead?

Will a 64 bit OS make any difference?

Thanks for any comment

games tend to hit the GPU more than the CPU. Since you CPU looks like it is dual core, it should be fine, and therefore a new GPU would be a better investment. If you're finding that the game isnt performing as well as it used to, it maybe that your system has become bloated due to installed programs. Therefore a clean wipe may even be all that is needed (if it used to perform ok before) You may find installing the 64bit windows may just solve it. And about if it'll make any difference, i doubt anything noticeable; bar full utilisation of the 4gb of RAM. (you may notice 32bit programs using more ram than before, but that is due to code to make it work in a 64bit environment)
