Hi peeps,

I have a socket 775 Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R v2.0. This currently has a E6300 cpu at stock. It has the latest bios which is F12

I have recently bought a second hand E8400. It says on the Gigabyte website that it should be okay when I install it the computer gets through the bios/post screens.

Then it gets to the bit where it says loading windows and I get a blank screen afterwards. It seems that the hard drive is working as the red light is on and I can hear it pumping away but there is nothing on the screen.

If I remove the E8400 and replace it with my E6300 it boots straight away into windows.

I have emailed the seller of the chip but just in case there is anything I am doing wrong I thought I would post it on here for some help and advice?

Cheers

Adam

Might need a bios update for 45nm support, check the cpu support page and see what bios is required for this cpu.

edit: sorry just re-read your post .nvm.

Thanks for all you guys help, I have just found that one set of memory was only rated to 533mhz and when I put the e8400 chip it put the memory up to 800mhz which this set could not cope with!! Took that memory out and now it works!!!
