Upgrade Q's

Ideally you want to preserve the triple channel operation so you should use 3 or 6 DIMMs.

You could try adding 3x4GB to your existing 3x2GB to give you 18GB (as long as you match speed, timings and voltage) or you could buy 6x4GB.

There's a 6x4GB kit here but it's cheaper to buy two 3x4GB kits here.

You could buy three of the Kingston kits you linked or three other 2x4GB kits.

But for less than £100 you could buy three of these.

If you're happy to drop down to dual channel operation you could buy two 2x4GB kits or a 4x4GB kit.

May I ask what version of Windows you're using?

With Windows Vista or 7 you need the 64 bit Professional or above versions to use more than 16GB of RAM.

Thanks for the response.

Running windows 7 Home 64 bit. Plan to use it to run several VM's hence the need for more ram.

As the maximum you can use is 16GB (which I'm sure you worked out from my earlier post) then perhaps go for 4x4GB and use them in dual channel mode.

It's a bit messy but the alternative is to try and add 3x4GB to what you already have, preserve triple channel operation, but you'll only be able to use 16GB of the installed 18GB.
