upgrade question

Today I upgraded my 8800gts 512mb to a 4890 1gb and 3d mark 2006 only increased by 1000 to 13,000.

I went onto control panel and removed the old graphics card drivers properly.
Am I doing anything wrong?

EDIT: Is 3d mark 2006 a bit useless now as it is testing obsolete technology?

You will need to use 3D Mark Vantage it will show a more significant improvement. 2006 is not designed for the new tech.

A quick google suggests it should be around 16000 though

go onto hwbot.org to check what other simular systems are getting in 3dmark06,
its usually what i do to get a base line for what scores simular systems are getting
edit: quick check showed no results for ur system on hwbot.org

How much cpu related is 3d mark 06? As my cpu is at 3ghz and many peoples are at 4-4.2ghz (at least on what I could find from google)
