hello, I'm currently looking to upgrade my system

here's my current pc :

CPU: intel Q6600 (775)
mbo: asus striker II extreme
ram: corsair xms3 ddr3 1333mhz (2gb) X2
psu: tagen 850w modular
gpu: BFG 8800 GTX oc2

I would like to upgrade my graphics and ram on my current system possibly processor (would that be worth it? )

Hi and welcome

Your gfx card is worth upgrading yes, assuming you use this computer for gaming
As for your CPU/RAM if you were to it would mean a new mobo too, theres no point getting better for your current socket, though that being said if you havent already overclocked you CPU that would be my first suggestion. Check out the overclocking&cooling subforum for a sticky on how to if needs be
Beyond that, what sort of budget have you set aside for your upgrade?

Thank you :)

Yeah sorry i should have mentioned that Im a gamer and would like to get the best out of my current setup and to get a system that would run BF3 at high settings. but like you said i would need to upgrade my motherboard.

If i were to get a motherboard what would you recommend ? Ive always stood by Asus and Nvidia.

I've overclocked my Cpu up from 2.4 ghz to 2.83 (my first overclock, not the best i know but didn't want to risk it)

my budget would be around 300 - 400 i know that's not much these days for computer parts

thanks

also how much would a good high end system upgrade cost me ? replacing CPU, ram, gpu and mother board ?

thanks

But you can use your DDR3 RAM to get this to £550.

The motherboard above is only good for a single GFX setup only, if you want SLI/Crossfire as an option then a motherboard at £100+ will be needed

Thanks for the quick reply.

is this card any good ? :
Asus 1GB Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 Directcu II

i'm also thinking of keeping my Q6600 and Sttriker II extreme and add another 4Gb ram to my system.

would this be ample for running BF3 ? or would you reccomend a I5 ?

The GTX560Ti is no slouch when it comes to gaming so couple that with a SandyBridge i5 you will be flying along. Frankly you should really go with what stulid has suggested the guy knows his hardware ;)

Stoner81.

cool thanks guys for the info, And for stulid's recommendations I'm going to go for it but I'm not convinced on the gigabyte mother board could I replace that with the asus p8z68-v ? would it make any difference ?
