Well the rig in my signature recently bit the dust, so I'm looking to replace/upgrade with the following; I've spent hours trying to do enough reading to be able to adequately answer the AM2/Agena vs P35/Penryn dilemma and for fears that Agena isn't quite going to match up to Penryn I've decided to go the (slightly more expensive) Intel route...

Asus P5K-E WiFi/AP P35 mobo
Intel Core 2 Duo E6420
2Gb Corsair XMS DDR2-6400C5
nVidia 7900GT (recycled from my old rig)
Tagan 480w PSU (recycled from my old rig)
Western Digital WD2500KS 250GB 7200RPM SATAII/300 16MB Cache Hard Drive

plus some random stuff; new Lian-Li PC7 in Black, some Samsung SATA DVD-RW drive.

So, any comments, suggestions for changes? Not really planning on overclocking this CPU to be honest, it'll still run rings around the 3500+ I've had for several years...And not really much room for movement on the amount of money I'm spending either :)

Input muchly appreciated!

Yer sure, go for all of the above.

Jus' wait till after July 22nd, when the processors drop in price.

Pick up a better processor for the same money, or just save money.

Wish I could do that, but as I said, my PC is dead and I can't wait that long for a new one :(

You could get the C2D 4300 instead & invest in a good cooler to (slightly) overclock it. Recommend this. Upgrade, if you need to, when this price drops happen.

That RAM has a high latency, i.e. 5-5-5-12. Should get something with 4-4-4-12 like this ;)
