ok so ive been all over the place lately and dunno what i want tbh :o

But im sure now that ill upgrade my cpu/memory and mobo.

First, i thought it might be best to get a cheapy C2D for now and clock it, and then buy a penryn quad core later on. Would that be a good choice over what i have now? or should i just leave it altogether and wait till around november? and see how penryn and phenom compare to chips of today?.

I just need to know what would work best, il use an akasa case dont think ill bother getting an expensive one, cant really notice much difference at the more expensive cases anyway and ones for 30-40 quid look good enough imo. what CPU / mobo and ram should i get? i want 4GB ram and stuff that people arent getting problems with ocing.

Suggest away please :)

Mainly doing this for newer games like crysis.

Might be better off waiting for phenom/penryn?.

Also need suggestions on PSU too please, 800w+ should do it for future graphics cards.

Your existing system is still pretty decent so if it is doing what you require then I'd probably suggest holding on to see what comes next. Also if you want 4gb then you will need a 64bit OS to be able to see all of it. :)

Next as in.. penryn and phenom or do you mean after that again?

Next as in the most immediate next (so Penryn and Phenom or whatever they end up being called) but it all depends how much you need/want an upgrade. No point hanging on forever if you need the power now as there is always something better round the corner. :)

as long as my current pc can cut it with crysis and a few other games, ill upgrade at the next releases. Which is about jan-feb next year? or before end of this year.

yup will probably do just that, cant see it harming since their not too far away now anyway.

As your machine probably faster than most of the sub grand systems being specced on here at the moment!
