Been thinking of upgrading my Athlon 64 3700 system for a while and put this spec together tonight.

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)

Abit IP35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX (2x1GB)

Any obvious problems/issues or alternatives anyone can think of? I'm not looking to overclock so the supplied cooler should be fine for me. (?)

This will be my first intel system since the days of socket 7 so I may be a bit rusty. lol

I'll be keeping my 2 hard drives (1 ide & 1 sata), dvdrw, Radeon x800gto PCI-E (this is next on the upgrade list), and wifi card. Will my existing Hyper 530w PSU be ok with this setup?

Note that most modern mobos (especially P35 ones) have a single IDE connector so you can only have 2 such devices. That means your PATA HD & DVD±Writer will have to share a cable something I wouldn't recommend.

Rest is fine, though I'd put the PSU on the upgrade list next because of the unreliability forum members have been getting with that make.

Personal I prefer using an after market cooler instead of stock. They tend to be built better = cooling efficiently & quietly!

That shouldn't be too much a problem. I only use the older hard drive for backup of the sata drive. The rest of the time it's not used.
