Upgrade time.. N95 vs Viewty

Time for an upgrade from my w810i :)

Have had my eye on the N95 for a while, but now the Viewty has caught my eye as well.

Which should I choose?

I'm liking the style of the viewty, and the larger screen, but I've got it into my head that the N95 is more functional. I'll need the GPS, I'll be using it for music as well, and a "good" camera is a nice-to-have. I've not had an LG before, what is the software like?

So, people of OcUK.. help me decide, please :)
 
Both good phones with similar cameras etc, but the viewty has much more video and photo editing options, plus the 120fps videos so you can play them in slowmo.

The n95 has much more features along the lines of GPS and stuff.

Tbh i would get the viewty, as thats what im going for, and i considered the N95.
 
I haven't used the viewty before, but i did recently get a N95 and i'm utterly pleased with it. The battery life was quite short before the latest firmware update which has increased its lifetime from dire to manageable. The camera quality is good enough for day to day use, you won't get any shots worth mounting on your wall, but that's what standalone cameras are for. The huge amount of support for symbian os is just brilliant, with even apps like ScummVM allowing me to replay Day of the Tentacle when i'm bored in a doctors waiting room. The MP3 software is functional and the GPS, once its locked on (which can take a bit of time) works well enough, especially with a 3rd party app like route66.

The only comment i could make on the viewty is that i don't like touchscreens so its not for me :P
 
One thing the Viewty can do is play Divx without and re-encoding, basically off the bat. Something the N95 can't do.
 
I got a viewty a couple of days ago, i'm in love, the camera is awesome and after using the touch screen for a while using normal phones just makes me feel dirty, its surprising how nice it is to move stuff about on the screen yourself rather than keying it through. The only problem with the interface is that some of the menus do not enable you to scroll by dragging your finger over them, instead you have to use the scroll wheel or the scroll bar, but this is just in some of the media menus and other stuff i don't use much, the stuff you'll use every day like contacts, messages, the camera features etc are all draggable... if you know what i mean. Also the screen vibrates a little when you press so you get some kind of tactile feedback of what you're doing.

Looking at your post though, if you need the GPS and a good media player I would go with the N95, the player on the viewty is quite lacking, for instance it does not have any equaliser and the bass is a little weak not to mention lacking any hardware keys to control it at all, even the volume is changed on the screen.
 
N95 - I'm really impressed with the new firmware (released on Monday). It has improved a lot of the issues that I had with the phone. See the other thread.
 
i am finding my n95 and 6gb micro sdhc card pretty fantastic. just got myself some a2dp bluetooth headphones from motorola so that i can listen to my music while doing weights :]
 
right.. another twist to the tale.. I'm with t-mobile, and they don't supply the n95 8gb.. so the viewty it may well have to be, if t-mobiles customer services response confirms no n95 8gb :)
 
Yeah, however t-mobile do get funny about when I upgrade. They moan if I don't do it in the final month of contract (contract renews on dec 16th) but pfft, their problem, not mine. :)
 
Got a reply from t-mobile, they do not know when they will be getting them, if at all, so I think I'll wait it out a bit. :)
