Upgrade time, what to get? N96 or wait for the N97?

Have you used it?

It has the touch capability and nice screen of the 5800, and the buttons of a regular phone. The only way its not going to be better is if Nokia program them all to explode when an application is installed. It will be much superior to an N96 is just about every respect barring size... and the price will likely reflect that.

Of course you can to a l;arge extent, we know the specs, the touchscreen is based on the same tech as the 5800 (but bigger)m and previews from people who have played with it have been positive as to the feel and tactility of the keyboard. The camera is also the same as in the N82, minus the xenon flash.

It's going to be good, question is will it be good enough to floor the OmniaHD or not.

Well, I decided not to upgrade at this time. Instead I've reduced my monthly contract to what I'm actually using (so from £35 to £10 per month) saving £450 over the next 18 months and I'll buy a new phone for SWMBO (6600 Slide Pink) and a media player for me. And I get to keep my 6500Slide which I like as a phone.

Win/win.

Oh, and it's a rolling contract so I can switch back to the higher tariff when the N97 comes out if it's totally awesome.

Looking at nokias current phones further there isn't really one I would want - that doesn't have bad battery life.

The N97 specs claim it sports a 1500mAh battery so that's a positive move - only issue I have is that it's not out for another 2 - 2.5 months yet :/

If my contract is up in mid-may then could I put off upgrading until the N97 is out or would I have to choose something then ?
