Please check over this spec for me:

Intel C2D 6600 - £195
Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI - £75
G.Skill 2GB DDR2 NQ PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit x2 = £202.08
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775) - £16.44

Total: ~£495

I think that is an awesome price and should compliment my X1900XT very well until the R600 hits the shelves!

How much of an improvement do you think this will be over a 4800+ with 3GB DDR Ram?

Looks good. Why 4GB ram ? The X1900 will definatley cut it till R600 and a more veriety of DX10 cards are out. You might want a crossfire board if your going ATI.

4 GB of RAM - well because you can never have too much ram and also because I have vista ultimate running on the present system and it likes ram!

I doubt I shall ever use CF/SLI, I would rather just buy one fast video card (dont want to double the heat/power usage in my case)! I picked the Abit because it has RAID and that will keep the RAID 0 raptors happy!

Make sure you got some AS5 or Akasa thermal paste for the AC7 the stuff which comes with it isnt very good. I hope you overclock the E6600 to 3Ghz+.

AS5 is sitting next to me waiting to be used. Only time will tell whether 3ghz+ can be achieved on this E6600! ;)
