Upgrade time...

persoanlly i think you're better off saving a bit more to upgrade to c2d if its possible, dont think the change to p4 3.2 will be worth it, entry level c2d's are pretty cheap now.

ocuk 1950pro 512 pci-e is £30 or so cheaper than an agp version which would near enough get you 2gb of ddr2 memory.

then just need a mobo on top of that.

Not fussed about running higher than 1024 because I only use an old 15 inch monitor, space is limited in the office and a bigger monitor would mean sitting way too close.

Budget wise, i'd say around £300 maximum, but prefer something around £150-£200

came up with the following, main thing is the mobo, if you dont mind it can be upped to the ip35-e when it gets into stock but that adds £20 to the price.

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) £31.99 (£37.59)

Asrock 4CoreDual-SATA2 (Socket 775) PCI-Express/AGP DDR2 Motherboard £36.99 (£43.46)

OcUK ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £66.99 (£78.71)

Intel Core 2 Duo E2140 "LGA775 Conroe" 1.60GHz (800FSB) - Retail £36.99
(£43.46)

Sub Total : £172.96
Shipping : £8.25
VAT : £31.71
Total : £212.92

Thanks mp260767, thats around the price range I was looking at :D

In regards to the mobo, if I wait for the ip35-e, will this give me more upgradability in the future, would rather spend a little more on the mobo and then just be able to upgrade the core, ram and graphics over the next few years.

Also, something I forgot to ask, is a vista upgrade worthwhile?

if it was me i'd wait for the ip35-e, newer mobo, can take the 1333 processors, and upcoming 45nm due out soonish, probably overclock better than the asrock as well.

graphics card wise it will run the cards that are out, obviously not sure how much future proofing it may have, really depends on how nvidia/ati take their developments.

memory wise DDR3 is now out, tho still pretty dear, if things switch over to that then the ip35-e will NOT take it, but i think you should be fine with ddr2 for a good while without many problems.

can't say that i've noticed anything that would make me upgrade to vista at the mo, is very much a personal taste thing imo.
