Upgrade time!

I need to replace the following:
Motherboard
PSU
Ram

Ive picked:
Abit IP35 Pro XE
Enermax Galaxy 1000W

That really just leaves with picking the memory, unless ive made a really bad choice in picking the above.

Anyway for the memory all i care about is:
4gb
stable

I dont overclock and prefer stability over anything:)
 
Nothing wrong with the ram you have really. If you must replace it then this stuff is very good.

I would change the motherboard to the cheaper, newer and better Asus P5Q Pro.

You certainly do not need a 1Kw psu. Especially at a ridiculous £170. A Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 750W ATX2.2 Modular SLi Compliant PSU would be more than enough and still allow for future upgrades. Or how about the excellent Zalman ZM750-HP Heatpipe Cooled 750W Modular PSU at the same price. People are going to recommend the Corsair HX620 but personally i do not think it's worth the money at a silly £94.

Ive never had ASUS before always abit, so is it a really good board? Is there any good reasons i should have it?

Also the powersupply hows that zalmen?

Look in my siggy. :D It is the best psu that i have ever had, and i have had quite a few. Enermax, OCZ, Seasonic and many others and not one has even come close to this Zalman. It is extremely quiet and efficient. It comes with an excellent assortment of cables and is of a very high quality.

As for the motherboard, the P45 is a lot better than the P35 boards. More power efficient, cooler running, pci-e 2.0 slots (1 card runs at 16x, 2 cards run at 8x each compared to P35's 16x and 4x), better southbridge too (ICH10r). I have had Abit, Gigabyte and Asus boards and i would take an Asus or Gigabyte over an Abit anyday. It also makes more sense to buy into a newer architecture board.

As a side note, it was posted not long ago that Abit are pulling out of the motherboard manufacturing buisiness, so if it failed down the line it may be difficult to get it replaced. Not sure if the warranty would be worth anything then.

Actually, if you only want a single graphics card, then you could go with the standard P5Q although i reckon the Pro is worth the extra for the better cooling. They are excellent boards.

Just read one of the reviews someone left on the site, and they say its a little slow and good for a gaming board for 2-3 years?

Ok to finally clarify you really really really recommend:

OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Reaper HPC Enhanced Bandwidth Edition
Zalman ZM750-HP Heatpipe Cooled 750W

Im gonna look more into it and by tuesday ill click the order button.

Yes. You really will not be dissapointed with them. Ignore the reviews on the shop as they are worthless. There are loads of reviews on hardware sites saying that the P5Q series are excellent. Loads of people on here can't be wrong either. ;)

Cheers for everything ive hit the order button, but i changed the psu to a 1000w zalman:p Overkill i know but i was determined to have a 1000w:D

You do know that they are physically a lot bigger than a normal size psu? It does'nt have a power on/off switch either. It was a pointless upgrade as well. As you will only be using around a quarter of it's available power the efficiency will be a lot worse than that of a smaller psu.
