I currently have a 5870 but would like to upgrade for BF3.

The 5870 just fits my antec case with 1cm to spare, so i'm looking for a step up in performance but the card would need to be the same length or shorter.

I have an Enermax galaxy 850 psu so power isnt a problem,
I cant Xfire or Sli because my soundcard is in the way.
I game at 1680x1050
I have an i7 920 stock but will probly OC for BF3

What cards should i be looking at
cheers guys :D

no need to upgrade

I've not had a new gfx card for ages and now I have a a spending itch that wont go away :D also I just want loads of FPS.

You will have to go Nvidia then, advise 570 or 560 - a 580 is overkill for that rez

So all the Nvidia's are shorter, and all ATi are longer.
My first thought was 580/6970 but was unsure on length or performance compared with each other and the 5870.

(doesn't overkill just mean more FPS)

EDIT: also if i was to go for one of the better cards what type of OC would i need on my CPU to stop it bottlenecking

I was having the same thoughts with my 5850, but have decided to wait until AMD or Nvidia bring out there new cards, whenever that will be!

Theres no point in an upgrade because theres nothing out atm thats gonna give you a massive gain. If you do though i would say the gtx580 is your only real option.

The problem with getting a gtx580 is that its very expensive and in a few months its looking more and more likely amd will have something a good bit faster. I would say its a bad time to be spending lots of money on a card because it could be outclassed very soon and you will take a huge drop on the value of the card straight away.

I think at stock clocks the gtx580 may give you somewhere in the region of 30% extra performance. With a good overclock it will probably pull away some more.

5870 is still a cracker of a card.

There is nothing worth while upgrading too.

Unless you go multi gpu.

Possibly 580GTX, but its very expensive and new cards are months away.

The prob with getting a new monitor, say 24" @ 1920x1080, is then i'll deffo need a better card so £400 then turns into £700.

I love my Antec so a new case is a big nono.
I never Overclock my CPU, it just doesn't interest me, but I don't mind pushing it up if it's bottlenecking my card whilst playin games.

I just want BF3 to run FAST and beautiful.
