So my current GPU is struggling, and I've got the upgrade bug, severe case.

I currently run a 5870 that I've had since 2010, and it just doesn't cut the mustard anymore. I can still play pretty much anything I like, but only on the lowest settings, and the fan whirls up to vacuum cleaner levels rather quickly.

I've also started doing a quite a lot of video editing (channel in sig), and getting a card capable of video rendering would be a real time saver.

Budget is £200, pushing to £250 for a noticeable increase in performance. I'll be ordering around the end of the month. Quiet running under load and idle is a big plus, and AMD preferred, but not required.

So, what are my options? :D

Either RX480 Devil or Nitro, which ever comes with highest clocks and fits your case.

Wait for 1060 reviews. They might be the same price as the 480 and might be faster. Only a day to find out.

It's pretty much 480 or 1060 at that price.

That seems pretty conclusive. Reviews tomorrow you say? When is the 1060 release date then?

Case space isn't an issue, unless either card is absolutely mahoosive? The 480x mentioned above doesn't seem to be.

The 480 Devil is unnecessarily huge, although will fit in most modern cases.

I think the 1060 will be available for either order or pre-order tomorrow, the aftermarket 480s are on pre-order too.

You might want to checkout the the offers on AMD's last gen products in the other thread but for newer stuff the 480 is your best bet but get an 8Gb model.

In terms of performance it's almost a given that the 480 will be quicker typically in titles that have DX12 or Vulkan and the 1060 will typically be quicker in DX11 titles (AMD never bothered to fix the DX11 driver/CPU overhead with Polaris which is disappointing).
