Upgrade time?

I mainly use Lightroom and Photoshop and play the odd game.

I am currently running a 4690k with a Gigabyte Z97 SOC Force board, 16 GB of Ram and a 1080Ti

I need to swap out my current storage drives for something bigger so i am thinking is it time to upgrade the CPU, Motherboard and RAM and do it all in one hit?

Is there any value in upgrading the motherboard, ram and CPU?

If Lightroom and Photoshop makes use of multicore cpu's then I would have thought a AMD Ryzen bundle would give you some very nice gains. I wouldn't even consider moving to Intel's current offerings with these disgusting prices.

gpu perfect as it is

thread count

can see intel 6 cores do well for its price due to its speed over higher core counts and AMD - but its expensive

roll in ryzen 2700x at a good price and overclock it to 4.2ghz ALL CORES

as mentioned above, lightroom does like threads, see 4 core 8 thread i7 beating 6 core/thread coffeelake
