Fair enough, assuming there's room in the case for that with the GPU he's chosen, the Gigabyte Master 5080 is bloody massive last I checked.
If i have read the manual correctly and bear in mind I'm new to AMD boards. The second PCIe slot sets the main PCIe lane to x8.
Yes, it is. I was genuinely shocked.Fair enough, assuming there's room in the case for that with the GPU he's chosen, the Gigabyte Master 5080 is bloody massive last I checked.
Thanks for the reply. I have actually been doing the research since it happened. I'm going to buy a Fiio k13 R2RThere's some really good external hardware out there for audio now, I mentioned this earlier but I've been using that sort of thing for over a decade now quite happily with some fairly high end equipment. I actually owned the first iteration of the Xonar Essence ST (on good old PCI, prior to PCI-E) so I can relate a fair bit.
I think the biggest loss you'll suffer with the STX 2 if you were into doing so, would be swapping out OP-AMPS.
You could probably get the board fixed fairly easily if it is just two caps, but you'd run into the same issue trying to install the thing from the sounds of it.
Pop a post in here if you want some advice on external solutions for your needs, I can throw an idea or two in here but I'll no doubt miss some things myself:
oh damn, that sucks. you are indeed correct, if you use the second to last slot the main x16 slot will function as an x8 onlyIf i have read the manual correctly and bear in mind I'm new to AMD boards. The second PCIe slot sets the main PCIe lane to x8.

yeah an external one is probably the way forward thenThanks for the reply. I have actually been doing the research since it happened. I'm going to buy a Fiio k13 R2R
