Upgrade to current gaming PC

Looking on ebay I can see the internals for one, looks like it has a 6 pin, cant seen an 8. Assuming this is the original PSU

There's also a motherboard for sale, looks like AM4 but model number suggests a B550 not X570, seems to have an m2 but no idea if its PCIE or SATA.

A quick google suggests the latest BIOS available doesnt support 5000 series, so you can upgrade to a higher end 3x00 chip but that might be the limit.

can see pic of internal yet but from photo looks like a matx board and possibly a atx psu at the top which could be swapped out..has 2 m.2 slots so if chipset is x570 (sorry, still bit busy at work) poss of 2 pcie 4 drives which is nice...ram is 2x4, so that would need to be changed..so ram, psu, cpu, gpu., m.2...not sure whether worth it..changing so much might be better selling it as a home pc for someone to websurf/home office and start again. if you're upgrading so much, I'd be tempted to start again with am5 7600 cputhat has an upgrade path going forward..not exactly as a acer plastic case is a work of art to keep
still trying to see an internal pic somewhere
below is link to pc..can see the psu screws in back which adds hope for just a standard atx power supply

having kids, depends how old your son is...put fortnite was goto game for a year, but then got set aside for more demanding titles as their interest increased...might be better stretching for a 6750xt or a 2nd hand 3060ti/3070 or something...bit more performance where upscaling will give a bit more longevity

nice thread about pc as someone upgraded....one guy pointed out not a standard mobo, sits between a mATX and a miniITX, and was designed for am3 cpu bracket mounting, as guy broke clips trying to fit his am4 3600 stock cooler on it
