Currently got an:

AMD 3500+
1GB RAM
Nvidia 256mb 6800GT
1280x1024 screen resolution.

Just wondered what I'd need to play BF2 at max or high at that resolution, and for it to have a high frame rate, load fast etc?

The reason I’m asking is cause I want to make small upgrades though if a new CPU and motherboard is the way to go perhaps I could stretch for one.

Cheers

All you need is another gig of ram, my friend has an athlon 3200+ a 6800gs and 2gig of ram and he runs bf2 full res with all eyecandy on a 20" widescreen tft.

Defo another Gig of RAM. It will make a huge difference for not much cash. Overclock the CPU in the BIOS, pick up a cheap X1800XT if you have a PCI-E slot. All budget friendly options. Have a look at the clearance section.

I have a 4000+ CPU / X1800XT / 2GB DDR400 it plays BF2 on a 24"Dell full eye candy, no bother.

When I played BF2 it suffered from memory lag, which was bad, but at times, it was unplayable.

I got a 2gb Corsair value kit, and it works perfectly.
I have everything on medium, and a couple of things on high with a xfx 7600gt and its really nice, not tried everything on max yet, probably wont.

Just get an extra gig of ram in and it will fly.
I've ran the game pretty much all on max settings 1280x1024 on a X800XL, with a X2-3800 and 2 gig of ram.
Before I had 2gig of ram it stuttered loads and I couldn't run the settings as high.
