Hi everyone,

Here is my full setup:

-750W Corsair PSU
-Hiper Osiris case cooled with corsair 12cm fans
-Phenom 550 @ 3 cores - 3.6ghz
-MSI 790fx GD70 mobo
-Samsung Green 8GB kit @ 1700mhz 9-9-9-24 (WTF happened to these? ocUK don't stock them anymore)
-XFX black edition radeon 6870 @ res 1680x1050
-120GB Crucial M500 SSD running Win 7
-1TB caviar black HDD for apps

Outcome? I'd like to play reasonably Starcitizen when released as my brother in law has bought me a ship, planetside 2 also struggles which also a game I'd like to get into. Purely these are the reasons for my upgrade. I've not got so much money spare but I'll upgrade my GFX card at a later date because they are the ultimate convenience to upgrade anyway compared to other components.

I've always been an AMD fan with a price VS performance incentive but been so long since I've looked into whats hot right now I'd hastily admit I'm out of touch hence this thread. Help is much appreciated!

Obviously if your going to upgrade the GPU later your just looking at a motherboard and cpu then. You will have to provide a budget though to help people spec it for you

My selection above of the TUF Z97 Mk 2 has only HDMI and displayport on the onboard iGPU, if you need DVI you may need to change it. Also there is no PS2 keyboard socket.

You have not stated if you have or need an aftermarket cooler. There is a cheaper ASUS board at about £93 which would allow one in your budget.

Other than above comments, that is my recommendation.

Thanks for the recommendations so far, my budget is around £300 for cpu/mobo. I do use a ps2 socket as my qpad keyboard works better that way but the CPU choice looks perfect.

I do prefer to get an aftermarket cooler but I could upgrade this later on.
