Hi guys,

My current system is as follows:

i5 2500K @ 4GHz
8GB RAM
ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3
ASUS GTX480

I'm thinking about throwing some cash at a new graphics card ans was wondering if it's worth it?

I was thinking along the lines of the 280X (~£300)

Thanks for any input!
 
Unless you find your PC is struggling, I'd wait - either for another great 280x offer (like the MSI Gaming for £220-230), or until the mining craze dies down. 280X prices are high at the moment.

If you do need the upgrade now, then a 280X is indeed the card you want sub-£300. See what comes on This Week Only today. A 780 or a non-reference 290 would be a decent improvement, but will cost you at least £80 more than that budget.
 
It'll likely be 1-2 Months before I decide to take the plunge anyway, Do you think that will be sufficient for it to die down?
 
No idea :( But at least it gives you plenty of time to wait for the right offer to come along.
