Upgrade worthwile or new system?

I have decided to go for a new GPU on its own for now.

doing some tests and a bit of reading shows that my CPU is currently only running at 50%.

As it is running at a steady 3.7GHZ with good temps I would be able to run a GTX 960 with minimal bottlenecking.

I'm not going to buy a 960 as it just means I would have to upgrade it again when I get a new CPU.

Think I'm going with the 390X.

PS. I can't believe my current card is still working as I just ran GPU-Z and the GPU3 temp was 101degreesC!!! It's a bit dusty in there so i'm going to blow it out at work to see if it makes a difference.

Thanks for all the help!

Winter is coming

A good choice indeed, though I hope you aren't serious about going into 4K anytime soon as even with two of those you'd not get a very good experience across all games. Some games yes, but the more mainstream and graphically-intensive games just can't be handled at 4K with anything less than dual 980ti-level GPU power

I'm more interested in the Ultra Wide monitors.

So much so this last week i have been seriously looking at them. the 1440p seems to be a no brainer for me as 1080 just isn't enough.

I'm hoping the 390X could handle it and give me around 40FPs...? Would I need to go to a 980 for that? Or even still a 980TI :S

I have gone for a XFX Radeon R9 390X & a Dell Ultra-Wide 1440p monitor!

Should be here Sunday :D

I am aware I will be bottlenecking with my current setup/CPU but I will just have to throw some more cash at it later in the year for a new MB/CPU/RAM.

Hope it runs ok though!

I'm banking on racing titles not being too hard on the CPU... :S

Thanks for all the help guys, although I ended up going for something I never even thought about. Damn these things!
