Hi i thinking of upgrading my gfx card from 7800 gtx 256 too maybe x1900xt 512.
my first question is :

1.On this weeks special is it worth paying a few more quid for the x1900xtx or should i go for the x1900xt and be happy, i hear theres not much in the performance with a little overclock, allso i like the idea of the x1900xt silent cooler.

2.What size is the card compared with the 7800gtx cos by the looks in my case i have not much room for a much longer card due to the drive caddies.

3.What differnce performance wise should i exspect in the real world 20% 30% e.t.c or maybe should i keep 7800gtx ?

ps bye the way i play at 1280 * 1024 > 19 inch monitor

many thanks one.

Welcome to the forums. :)

1. Its not worth paying the extra for the XTX as it is not that much faster, and the XT will easily clock the small amount it needs to get to XTX speeds. :)

2. I think they are longer than the 7800 GTX's, and also they use double slot cooling where as the 7800 GTX 256mb's are only single slot.

3. Not sure what percentage increase you would get, but it would be a good increase, as the x1800 XT is even faster than the 7800 GTX 256mb, and the x1900 is faster than that, but at 1280x1024 even the x1800 XT would do, but that would not be much of an increase over the 7800 GTX, where as the x1900 would be, so you would be best of going for the x1900. :)

I think your 7800 GTX 256mb should handle 1280x1024 fine anyway, but if its not for you, then id go for the x1900 as said.
