Do you think it would be worth it selling my Powercolor 5770 card and buying a second hand GTX280 for about £120. I should hopefully get around the same sort of price for my 5770 on ebay. I know I would lose DX11 but that doesnt matter too much to me.

na, tbh get a HD5850/70 than yeah maybe

it depends what res you game at etc

If I bought a 5850 it would be another £100+ on top. I could sell the 5770 for almost the same price as I could buy a gtx280 My screen is 22" so 1650 x 1080 is max res

who said anything about a new HD5850?

If you can get a HD5850 in a acceptable price range that is which should be around 160-180 second hand I ll say depending what it is etc.

for a GTX280, that is a great price I must say. but you do lose DX11 and it does take up a bit more (a lot more) power (if you care about that)

also I do belive the HD5850 can out run it.

Any particular reason why you wanna get rid of your current card ? may I ask. like don't like the drivers etc or just need a extra *bang* for the money

Not that I want to get rid of it, I just like the idea of upgrading parts of my computer to something faster when I dont have to spend any extra to do so. If a GTX280 gains me 5 or 10fps over my 5770 then why not?

What about buying another 5770 and crossfiring them?

Performance jump would be rather large. :)

this, although it may not work all the time, as some games don't like Xfire or SLI or scaling can be poor.

I see were you are coming from better performance for about the same price assuming you get what you want for it

I think its up to you mate.

So would the jump on my wallet. £0 > £100. If there isnt that big of a difference between the 5770 and gtx280 then theres isnt any point.

Does anyone have some game fps graphs or links to some?

Then theres trade off with noise, heat and electric. The first two i would be more concerned about, mailnly noise. Is the 280 stupidly loud. I hated my old ATI X1800XT with the stock fan, it sounded like a henry hoover!
