Hi all,

Some advice please. I am currently running on 5970 x2 crossfire and been thinking of upgrading. However, I have no knowledge of current or upcoming hardware and was seeking some tips on an upgrade path, or wait for new hardware...?

I game at a resolution of 1920x1080. Any help/tips/advice would be great.

However...

I am a total muppet... I dont have 5970's in crossfire. I have a pair of xfx 5870's. Only just realised my typo when i came to check replies.

Any advise would be great.

Regardless, I still wouldn't be upgrading two 5870's. :)

Are they struggling with many games or is it more of an upgrade itch?

AMD are rumoured to be releasing something from their 7000 series in December, but whether it be mid or high end cards we don't yet know for sure.
 
Upgrade itch to be honest :)

Though i may hang out for the new intel "3d" chips and just do a full upgrade then...

If i am honest nothing is struggling to play at all. Just that desire for something new and shiny lol
 
Get better audio stuffs may be? Sound card, speakers, headset etc? :D

Your CF5870 will do fine, as long as you don't go beyond MSAA 4x...which the VRAM would probably start to become an bottleneck.
 
SSD? I used to read about how much people were impressed by the newer technology, and now that I have one I agree, I wouldn't want to go back.
 
Yeah if you need to buy something definitely get an SSD, i really want one myself!

Can't really justify the spend though after just buying a new monitor :(
 
Have 2 SSD already :) 1 for OS and 1 for game installs :)

Think i will wait for new processor lines to come out then just do a big upgrade :)
