Upgrade?

Hi'

Having various problems with my PC so thinking of changing the mobo, cpu, memory, drives.
Current PC is :Q6600,
ASUS mobo
4gb ddr2 ram
60gb SSD
2 x 1tb drives
AMD 6970 GPU

At the moment it runs all the latest games but i do get a lot of random issues with crashing, dvd drives not working etc.

Am i like to get a decent upgrade for less than £300?
Guessing its going to mean going amd, but despite them not comparing well tothe amd's my cpus 5 years old so would expect them to be better!

Here's what i want
CPU
MOBO
RAM
DVD Drive
and if possible another SSD.

Would this be much worse than the intel? Could fit in a SSD or change my gpu from AMD to Nvidia with the remaining monies? Not had a AMD since the athlon 4000xp. Assume it would still be quite an upgrade on what i have.
